Safety

Safety: The beauty of our technology is that it controls microorganisms without chemical poisons. Instead, it relies on electrically charged particles that have a unique spiked molecular structure. In nature, bacteria, mold and fungi carry the opposite charge—so they are physically and irresistibly drawn into contact with our product's pointed molecules. The contact punctures the cell walls of the offending microbes. Our product's molecular spikes are undetectable to human touch, but are highly effective against most microbes.

Independent data through numerous studies have shown that silane quats, nor their degradation products have adverse effect on eucaryotic organisms or plants. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have scrutinized the safety and efficacy of these agents. Currently they are used in a variety of products including band aids, diapers, surgical drapes, antimicrobial socks and garments, hand sanitizer, endotrachial shunts, shoe insoles, and numerous other products. Our product has also been used for many years to prevent mold infestation during pre-construction of residential and commercial buildings.

Studies show that these surfaces are resistant to most common disease causing bacteria, certain viruses and mold. Bio Barrier’s mission is to provide an extra layer of protection in preventing the transfer and dissemination of disease causing microbes to healthcare surfaces and other facility surfaces.

Facts: All other conventional antimicrobials used legally, including quats, bleach, peroxides, phenols, triclosan, formaldehydes, paint formulations, etc., work on the basis of diffusion away from the treated surface and are temporary in their effects. This promotes adaptation, loss of activity, leaching, diffusion, and creation of zones of inhibition.

Our antimicrobial surface treatment, which is an environmentally friendly, non-leaching, non-migrating silicone polymer can help combat the serious problem of surface-transmitted infections.

Science: A conventional quaternary ammonium salt is chemically spliced to a silane molecule, resulting in a highly active molecule. The active ingredient (3-trimethoxysilylpropyldimethyloctadecyl ammonium chloride) has both tenacious bonding capabilities as we l as excellent antimicrobial properties and covalently or ionically bonds with the target surface.

How Is It Applied? Bio Barrier’s personnel are certified, and will apply this protection without interruption in the facility through our ISO-ONE® Pathogen Control System.
